Internet Radio

Why?

Not everyone has good radio reception, particularly for shortwave. Some people don't have access to unbiased news reporting. Others are far from home.

Below are a few examples of different ways that radio has made its home on the internet. To listen to the stations you will probably need to download a program like RealNetwork's RealPlayer.

The BBC

You can now choose when to listen to your favourite BBC radio programmes. If you're abroad, you can keep up to date with the news at home whatever time of day or night it is.

100Jamz

!00% Bahamian !00% music! Before it moved onto the internet you would have had to live in the Bahamas to hear it. Now you can dance to Junkanoo music wherever you are.

Radio B92

The most outspoken radio station opposing the government in Serbia was forced down shortly before the air strikes. The radio station re-appeared on the internet to continue the opposition groups struggle for freedom. When that was shut down, a mirror site was set up in the Netherlands

Dr Gene Scott

The most outrageous TV evangelist can be heard on the internet. California culture meets evangelicalism with a good sprinkling of showmanship.
